Frequently Asked Questions
How often should I visit the dentist?
In keeping with the American Dental Association recommendation, our office encourages patients to visit us at least two times every year. These six month checkups and teeth cleanings allow our team to prevent many oral health concerns and diagnose and treat others in their earliest stages.
Can I bring my kids to your office?
We welcome patients of all ages at Oakton Dentistry by Design, and are happy to treat families in our comfortable office. Our dentists and team have years of experience working with kids, their unique oral health care needs, and the behavioral considerations that accompany working with young people. That means your child can start building positive associations with dental care from the very first visit.
What is periodontal disease?
Periodontal (gum) disease is the infection or inflammation of soft tissue surrounding teeth. This occurs when plaque and tartar buildup at the gum line irritates the gum tissue. At first, patients experience minimal discomfort, some bleeding, and reddening of gums. Left untreated, periodontal disease leads to a number of more detrimental oral health concerns including the loss of gum tissue, persistent bad breath, shifting of teeth, and tooth loss. We offer a variety of treatment options to help patients restore oral health following periodontal disease.
Do you treat dental emergencies?
We are happy to offer emergency dentistry services for our patients of record. In most cases, we’re able to see dental emergencies on the day you contact us, and we always take time to walk patients through first aid tips until they can reach our team.
Do you take my insurance?
We are happy to process and file claims for most dental insurance plans, we are in-network providers for many of the major PPOs, and our knowledgeable team is always here to help you understand your coverage and estimate out of pocket costs whenever you need us.
How can I pay for dental care at your office?
We accept payment in the form of cash, check, and credit at the time of service. We offer a 5% discount for patients who pay the full cost of care on the day of service. Additionally, we partner with CareCredit, a third party medical and dental financier, to offer affordable financing plans when patients need them.
