If you’ve ever scrolled through our services page, you’ve probably noticed that Oakton Dentistry by Design offers sedation dentistry.
Sedation dentistry allows patients who have avoided the dentist because of dental anxiety or other issues—like neck or back pain, a sensitive gag reflex, or because local anesthetics don’t have an effect on them—the chance to get the care they need without fear or stress.
What you may not know about us, though, is that we also offer sleep dentistry.
How Does Sleep Dentistry Work?
Sleep dentistry is actually part of sedation dentistry, but its focus is more specific. Sleep dentistry is for patients who don’t just want to relax during their appointment—they want to sleep through it completely.
Here’s how it works.
On the day you come into our Oakton office for your visit with Dr. Khalil or Dr. Giordano, we’ll have a board-certified anesthesiologist on hand to carefully control your sedation levels and monitor your comfort and safety. Once you’re sound asleep, all you have to do is rest easy in our dental chair as we take care of your smile.
Afterwards, you’ll wake up feeling relaxed and with no memory of your appointment at all. In fact, it may even feel like your appointment lasted only a matter of minutes. But as great as this feeling might be, nothing will compare to the satisfaction of knowing your smile is healthier and stronger than before you came in.
